Amazon Mission Organization

Building partnerships that champion the Gospel across the Amazon.

A Christian Missionary Organization
"How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!" Romans 10:14,15
More than 30 years preaching the Word of God in the Amazon

Everything was born of a dream of being able to make a difference in the lives of people who live far from everything and everyone. Without the attention of doctors, dentists and minimal resources such as basic sanitation, treated water, etc.
History

In the ministry for more than 30 years, AMOR is a non-profit, interdenominational organization dedicated to expanding the Kingdom of God in the Amazon Valley through partnership missions. We are a bridge between the local church in the USA and the church along the banks of the Amazon valley.

Foundation
AMOR (Amazon Mission Organization) - was founded in 1986 by Dr. Richard E. Walker - a missionary dedicated to missions among the less fortunate, who discovered in the Brazilian Amazon a new stage for his ministerial calling, abandoning all his achievements and privileges ; a result of long years of efforts and studies at Ouachita Baptist University [www.obu.edu], Southwestern Theological Seminary [swbts.edu] and Luther Rice [www.lutherrice.edu), which allowed him to pastor churches in Oklahoma, Georgia, Kentucky and Florida. He decided to counteract the expectation of many, and chose to hear the fervent voice of the Holy Spirit of God in his heart. Departing with the whole family to Brazil, he devoted himself exclusively to evangelism and the formation of disciples of the peoples of the Amazon.

Our Walk

The development came through the efforts of the churches in the USA, who also joined Richard in this cause, sending courageous and skilled volunteers to offer special care to the poorest, such as medical, dental and church planting and RBBI (River Bank Bible Institute - a Bible school/Conference), which over the decades has been a channel of salvation for thousands of riverbank families who have also been discipled and have learned to share the Gospel with their local community.

Resolution
Dr. Richard E. Walker stood firm in his conviction to reach the unreached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, regardless of the cost and efforts he would have to perform. He ministered beyond all established perimeters, going where no one ever went before to carry the Word of God. For he had a firm conviction in his heart that "People will not believe the words of your mouth until they feel the touch of your hands."

Legacy
All the ministerial efforts that Dr. Richard exercised, moved by God's love for the Amazon, became firmly rooted. The legacy of this trajectory lives today through the second and third generation of missionaries and leaders of his family. AMOR continues to venture ever deeper into the still-unreached regions of the Amazon valley, going far beyond the perimeter.
"Love is the unsolicited gift of the best you have on behalf of another, regardless of response."

Dr. Richard E. Walker
